Application of Gas Leak Detection Terminal in Urban Smart Gas Systems
2025-09-04
Urban gas safety is receiving increasing attention, and the gas leak detection terminal, with its efficient, stable, and intelligent performance, has become an essential component of gas pipeline monitoring. Based on advanced IoT technology and high-precision laser measurement principles, this product is designed for 24/7 monitoring at critical nodes of urban gas systems. It enables real-time detection of gas leaks, environmental parameters, and device status, providing strong support for the safe operation of city gas networks.

The terminal adopts laser methane detection technology, which allows accurate identification of methane concentration changes in complex environments, immune to interference from other gases. With its fast response, it minimizes false alarms, greatly improving detection efficiency and accuracy. Using precision optical measurement, the device monitors methane concentrations within 0–100% of the Lower Explosion Limit (LEL), with a measurement error controlled within ±2.5% of full scale, ensuring the authenticity and reliability of the data.
The product is designed with low power consumption, powered by three high-performance lithium-thionyl chloride batteries with a total capacity of 114Ah, providing a theoretical service life of over five years. This ensures long-term stable operation and reduces maintenance frequency. To adapt to harsh environments such as manholes, the device features an IP68 protection rating, capable of continuous operation for one hour at a depth of one meter, effectively preventing dust and moisture intrusion. Additionally, it complies with the latest national standards for explosion-proof equipment and is certified with Ex ib IIB T4 Gb, making it safe for use in hazardous areas with flammable gases.

For data transmission, the terminal integrates a reliable 4G communication module for remote reporting, eliminating the need for wiring and enabling quick deployment across widely distributed city gas facilities. An optional water ingress monitoring module triggers an alarm when water levels reach within 50 mm of the probe, warning of flooding risks to prevent equipment damage or safety hazards. The terminal also supports expansion with additional sensors, including pressure, temperature, humidity, and tilt modules, to meet diverse monitoring needs.
As an advanced terminal for urban gas safety management, the device demonstrates excellent environmental adaptability. It operates within a temperature range of -30°C to +70°C, with humidity tolerance up to 95%RH, making it suitable for both outdoor and underground conditions in varying climates. It supports the standard LWM2M communication protocol (customizable), ensuring flexible integration with multiple platforms for unified management and intelligent data analysis. This enables gas operators to monitor operational status across facilities in real time, improving scheduling and early warning capabilities.

The broad application scenarios of the gas leak detection terminal are one of its key advantages. It is suitable for urban gas pipelines, valve wells, pressure regulating stations, fueling stations, and oil depots, enabling real-time monitoring of methane leaks, environmental parameters, and water ingress. By deploying this device, operators gain access to more accurate and timely data, significantly enhancing emergency response efficiency and predictive capabilities, thereby improving the overall safety assurance level of urban gas systems.
