Application of Magnetostrictive Displacement Sensors in the Hydraulic Field
2025-09-08
In modern industrial automation, hydraulic control systems serve as the core for driving and execution, widely applied in engineering machinery, metallurgical equipment, injection molding machines, and other key devices. To ensure efficient operation and precise control, magnetostrictive displacement sensors play a crucial role as essential measuring components.
Hydraulic systems often operate under high pressure, high temperature, and humid environments. Traditional contact-based displacement measurement methods suffer from wear, accuracy degradation, and frequent maintenance, making them unsuitable for long-term stable operation. The Firstek magnetostrictive displacement sensor adopts a non-contact measurement principle—there is no physical contact between the measuring rod and the magnetic ring, avoiding wear and accuracy loss caused by friction. This greatly extends the sensor’s service life and enhances system reliability.

The sensor provides absolute position output. After a power failure and restart, there is no need for re-zeroing, avoiding accuracy loss common in incremental sensors. Its 16-bit high-resolution output ensures precise real-time feedback of hydraulic cylinder displacement, enabling fast response and fine adjustment in the control system, effectively improving equipment accuracy and repeatability.

In hydraulic actuating systems, pressure and displacement are the two key control parameters. With a stable 4–20mA standard analog signal output, the sensor can transmit cylinder stroke data in real time. Combined with the main control system, it enables closed-loop feedback, precise proportional regulation, and accurate position control. This makes it highly applicable to high-precision hydraulic systems, such as CNC bending machines, hydraulic lifts, and construction machinery arms, especially in automation scenarios requiring strict position control.

Whether in precision machinery manufacturing or under harsh working conditions in engineering applications, our magnetostrictive displacement sensor ensures accurate and stable displacement feedback for hydraulic systems. Its reliable performance not only improves operational safety but also significantly reduces system maintenance requirements.
