Intelligent Residual Chlorine Sensor Guardian of Water Quality Safety
2025-06-21
Currently, chlorine residual monitoring mostly relies on manual sampling and laboratory analysis, which is time-consuming, costly and inefficient. Especially in remote, unmanned or complex working environments, continuous and high-frequency monitoring is difficult to realize. To address this industry challenge, FirstrateSensor has introduced an intelligent chlorine residual sensor that utilizes advanced membrane technology to accurately measure residual chlorine concentration in real time. It has become a reliable aid in ensuring the safety of drinking water, swimming pool water and industrial water.

Residual chlorine is the amount of chlorine remaining after the chlorine added during the water treatment process has interacted with bacteria, microorganisms, organic and inorganic substances in the water. Knowing the residual chlorine level is essential for ensuring water safety and adjusting the amount of disinfectant used.
This sensor features an IP68 protection rating and is designed with a standard NPT 3/4 threaded interface. With a measurement range of 0–20 mg/L and constructed from PC and stainless steel, it is suitable for long-term submersion in water or direct integration into pipelines or tanks. Equipped with an RS-485 communication interface, it offers long-distance transmission and strong anti-interference capabilities, enabling seamless connectivity to industrial control systems, PLCs, DCS, and other third-party devices.

In drinking water purification systems, it monitors residual chlorine levels in real time, safeguarding drinking water safety. When water quality anomalies occur, it sends alerts through the system to prevent health risks caused by excessive residual chlorine.
In public swimming pools, such as those in schools and hotels, it detects residual chlorine levels to avoid the pungent odor and skin irritation caused by excessive chlorine, ensuring a safer and more comfortable swimming experience.

In industrial circulating water systems or water pretreatment processes, the intelligent residual chlorine sensor accurately tracks changes in residual chlorine, helping operators adjust dosages in real time. This not only improves treatment efficiency but also reduces operational errors for enterprises.
The residual chlorine sensor is an indispensable component of modern water quality monitoring systems. As water safety becomes increasingly important, Firstrate Sensor’s intelligent residual chlorine sensor not only provides a safeguard for water quality but also serves as a critical node in smart water management systems.
