Compared with traditional reagent-based methods, the Smart COD Sensor realizes real-time online monitoring of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) by accurately estimating the concentration of dissolved organic matter through the measurement of the absorption intensity of UV light at a wavelength of 254nm. It is equipped with a dual light source that not only measures COD with the main wavelength, but also monitors turbidity at the same time using a reference light source, and algorithmic compensation greatly improves the accuracy and stability of the data.

 

In practice, the intelligent COD sensor is equipped with an integrated self-cleaning brush that prevents biofilm build-up and measurement errors, making it ideally suited to complex water conditions and long-term operation. Manufactured in 316L stainless steel with IP68 protection, it is compact and robust, ensuring stable performance even in high humidity and contaminated underwater environments with minimal maintenance. Low power consumption and strong anti-interference capability make it suitable for remote or on-site monitoring stations.

 

In municipal wastewater treatment and industrial wastewater monitoring, smart COD sensors provide round-the-clock monitoring of outfalls, making it easy to detect pollution fluctuations and optimize processes to prevent violations. In aquaculture, real-time tracking of organic matter levels helps maintain optimal water quality, reduce the risk of disease and improve survival rates. In surface water monitoring and environmental protection programs, it can be used as a core sensing device in automatic water quality management systems to support the efficient operation of smart environmental platforms. In addition, the sensor supports RS485 communication and Modbus/RTU protocols for seamless integration into industrial automation systems for remote monitoring and centralized management, reducing manual inspection costs.
